Big Rock Brewery
Description: Originally based in Alberta and having just built a new brewery in the lower mainland Big Rock Brewing is putting down root here in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. We’ve been brewing craft beer in Canada for thirty years. That gives us experience and know how, some of our nation’s favourite beers and more secret recipes than grandma’s attic. However, what it can never give us in BC are the things we believe to be fundamental to the brewing of truly great Craft Beer. Nearby, fresh ingredients, local know-how and constant grassroots feedback.
In our opinion, the only way to get those vital ingredients is to brew beer right in the market where it is enjoyed.

Beers: Pale Ale, Light, Irish Cream Ale, Traditional lager
Description: Brassneck opened on October 2nd 2013. We’re a little neighbourhood brewery with a Growler Shop & Tasting Room servicing the good people of Mount Pleasant & the surrounding area. We like to keep things simple. We just serve the beer we brew & the occasional sausage. There’s no kitchen here but we have a roster of Food Trucks serving goodies just about every night. Order outside & bring it inside to eat. Easy peasy.
Our brewing philosophy is also very straight forward. We like to experiment, not take ourselves too seriously and constantly try new things. The result is a busy, ever changing chalk board, full of choices showcasing a mixture of tried & true “dangerously drinkable” beers, Nano sized experiments & lesser known styles from all over Europe & North America.

Bart has a Phd in nuclear physics, but he prefers to make beer not war, right here in Revelstoke. And Bart hasn’t let all that education stop him from making great beer. In fact, he’s managed to combine his scientific background with an artistic, if somewhat bohemian, flair for beermaking to create what The Globe and Mail and Vancouver Province newspapers have called some of the best suds around.

Nelson Brewing Company, Nelson, B.C.
Description: Since its inception in 1991, the Nelson Brewing Company has been dedicated to producing all natural, traditional, full-flavoured ales. In 2006 we decided to let the brewery evolve to an even more natural state, and by October of that year we were granted Certified Organic status. In a sense, we were getting back to our roots. People have been brewing organically for over 6000 years; the current practice of large-scale industrial farming with synthetic fertilizers and pesticides is an aberration of traditional farming, and therefore brewing, practices. Choosing organic production is also in keeping with the spirit of our home town of Nelson, a laid-back, progressive community nestled in the heart of the Kootenays. With limitless backcountry skiing and hiking at our back door, as well as a host of other outdoor activities year-round, brewing an organic beer in Nelson just seems like the natural thing to do.

Vancouver Island Brewing, Victoria, B.C.
Vancouver Island Brewery was the Island’s first craft brewery. Through loyal Island support, we began to grow and add to our portfolio of fresh handcrafted local ales and lagers. In 1995, we grew out of our original operation and made the decision to build a new brewery at 2330 Government Street in Victoria B.C. where the brewery still stands and operates today. We have grown from just 6 employees in 1984 to over 40 today and all of our brewery employees are “Islanders” with true Island roots. We have developed a 30 year tradition and connection with Vancouver Island and are proud of our history of supporting numerous local businesses, charities, and community events over the years.
